Sabi Sands Game Reserve
Undoubtedly this 66,000 hectare reserve is most popular and sought after in the Greater Kruger area. Luxurious and upmarket lodges & their sub-reserves such as Singita, Londolozi, Sabi Sabi, Mala Mala, Lion sands, Dulini, Elephant plains, Arathusa are located in this Private reserve. Accomodation is there to suit various needs and budgets. The Sabi Sands can be accessed through three gates namely Shaw’s Gate, Newington Gate & Gowrie Gate.
Timbavati Game Reserve
Timbavati is a popular private reserve that has 53,000 hectares of combined land of the Timbavati association with 50 odd members. It is on the northern side of Sabi Sands reserve with Kruger park on the western side. This Big 5 reserve is famous for its white lions born with a recessive gene that gives them the white colour. Lodges such as Kambaku Lodge, Kings Camp, Tanda Tula safari camp and others offer attractive stay options.
Thornybush Game Reserve
This 11,000 hectare private reserve is quite popular and features Big 5. It has good accomodation facilities suitable for all types of visitors. Lodges such as Shumbalala, Simbambili Game Lodge, Thornybush River lodge and others offer attractive stay options.
Kapama Game Reserve
The 16,000 hectare Kapama is just across Eastgate Airport (HDS). Located between the Blyde River Valley and Kruger National Park, Kapama has it own airstrip which allows travellers to fly in from Johannesburg and Cape Town, but it’s very conveniently located just across Eastgate Airport. Kapama house four lodges – Karula, Buffalo Camp, River Lodge and Southern Camp offer different experiences.
Lodges in other Private Game Reserves like Balule, Klaserie, Makalali, Manyeleti and Nkomazi do offer attractive offers that keep changing on and off.
